A ready mixed jute and cotton wool nesting material for cage and aviary birds. Coarse jute for the structure and soft cotton wool for the lining, blended in one bag so the hen has everything she needs to build and finish the nest.

This is the convenient option. Rather than buying the build fibre and the lining separately, the birds get both in one handful. The jute binds the nest and holds its shape, the cotton wool softens the inside so the eggs are not sitting on bare fibre. Use it on its own, or top up a nest pan and pad with it through the breeding season.

It suits canaries and serins, British finches and mules, zebra and Bengalese finches, and many softbills and waxbills. It is loose building material rather than a finished nest, so pair it with a nest pan and a pad for the base.

Offer it in short lengths and pull out any long strands. Loose fibre that is too long can wrap around toes and legs, so check the nest once the hen has built and clear away the excess.
